Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)

What is Low T: Testosterone is a natural hormone responsible for the normal growth and development of certain male organs and for the maintenance of other masculine traits. In men, testosterone is produced in the testes (the reproductive glands that also produce sperm) and regulated by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.

Symptoms of low T
Testosterone levels generally decrease with age, so older men tend to have low blood testosterone levels (Low-T).

Causes of low T
A decrease in testosterone levels is to be expected as men age. Other factors can also contribute to low T, including bad diet, alcohol, chronic health issues such as diabetes or obesity, medications, or trauma.

Diagnosis of low T
To make a diagnosis of Low-T, your provider will perform a comprehensive health assessment including a physical examination and blood testing to confirm the diagnosis. If you do have low testosterone levels, we will prescribe low testosterone treatment to provide you with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

Treatment of low T
If we determine that you are a good candidate for TRT, a specific treatment plan will be discussed and selected. We offer convenient, self-injection therapy that is administered in your own home after your initial step-by-step demonstration in the office. All supplies and medications are shipped from the pharmaceutical company directly to your home. If you opt for in office treatment, you will be scheduled bi-weekly for your injections.

Testosterone home supply: You may prefer to self-administer testosterone injections at your home. This option is available for those who are comfortable with the self-administration process, and do not want to schedule weekly, in office injections.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG): Pricing Varies
HCG is used to prevent testicular shrinking, and it helps maintain fertility during testosterone therapy. Also, many men report feeling a higher sense of wellbeing.

Vitamin B12 (B12): $60 for 10,000mcg (10 doses)
Vitamin B-12 is essential and has been clinically proven to reduce stress and fatigue, improve memory and cardiovascular health, and maintain a good body weight. It can also aid in converting proteins, fats and carbohydrates into energy, and is necessary for healthy skin and eyes.

Growth Hormone Optimization
Growth hormone secreting medications essentially instruct your brain to produce Human Growth Hormone (HGH) naturally. The medications are administered on a nightly basis, and result in faster gym recovery times, faster injury recovery, increased muscle development, fat loss, improved skin quality, and improved sleep. It is typically given in 3-month cycles.

Sermorelin: $210-$270 for 30-60 day supply (dose dependent)
Sermorelin is a Growth Hormone Releasing Analog is taken nightly to stimulate the production of HGH. Sermorelin improves sleep quality, aids in fat loss, improves muscle composition, and anecdotally improves mood and well-being.

Ipamorelin: $210-$270 for 30-60 day supply (dose dependent)
Ipamorelin is a Ghrelin agonist. It stimulates the production of HGH in a steadier, slow release that mimics the natural release that occurs during sleep. It aids in fat reduction, increased muscle mass, improved sleep, and improving the immune system. It can be taken long term as an age management supplement if desired.

Ibutamoren: $200-$240 for a 30-day supply
Ibutamoren is a Ghrelin agonist that stimulates the pituitary gland to release HGH. Ibutamoren is unique because it is dispensed as a pill unlike the other growth hormone secreting peptides that are injected. Ibutamoren increases muscle mass, aids in fat reduction, increases appetite, improves physical performance and stamina, and also aids in surgical/injury recovery.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

Menopause is the hallmark of aging in women. HRT can increase well-being, longevity, sexual response, cardiovascular health, cognitive health, fitness goals and decrease risk of cancer. In the US, estrogen replacement have been used since the 1930’s to treat hot flashes and other hormonal torments. Estrogen deficiency was believed to the key all menopausal symptoms, from hot flashes to heart disease to gas pains at cocktail parties.

Estradiol is the strongest and best estrogen and together with progesterone it does many important jobs, including building muscle, bone and maintaining the health of the brain and heart. Estradiol is also important for maintaining a healthy metabolic rate and the ability to lose fat around your waist, enhances insulin sensitivity and helps to prevent insulin resistance and diabetes. Losing estrogen at menopause removes that “estrogen advantage” and increases our risk of insulin resistance and abdominal weight gain

It can also increase muscle strength and the desire to move and exert the body and can even act as a natural appetite suppressant.

Progesterone is the hormone we make after ovulation and interestingly we make far more progesterone than estrogen. Progesterone thinning the uterine lining, help to prevent heavy periods, calms the brain and reduces anxiety and promotes sleep. Progesterone also reduces inflammation, normalized immune function, builds bones, protects the heart, increases metabolic rate and may help to prevent breast cancer.

Physiologic dosages for menopausal hormone replacement are close to the lower level of healthy premenopausal women, in optimal amounts and ratios could make you feel great. It is optimal to have your hormones balanced with each other, especially natural estrogen to natural progesterone

Symptoms of general hormonal imbalance:
Five to seven or more of these symptoms suggests hormonal imbalance

When women enter menopause, each with their own levels of hormones, they respond to Hormone Replacement based on what they already have in their system. This is an important reason women respond uniquely to hormone replacement. This means EACH WOMAN needs her OWN formula to get her OWN BEST-BALANCED hormones.

The studies say that starting hormones at a younger age is smarter and keeps you HEALTHIER.

The problems or health risks of BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE THERAPY ARE RARE.

Pharmaceutical then manufactured and doctors prescribed estrogen called estrogen replacement therapy. However, there were many side effects from ERT (the estrogens used in the US were mostly derived from pregnant horse urine and we shouldn’t put estrogens from other species inside our bodies). In addition, estrogen therapy without progesterone often caused uterine cancer. The synthetic progestins that were added did protect the uterus, but it turned out they unexpectedly harmed the breasts and hearts. Because estrogen stimulates growth and progesterone slows down the growth.

Peptides

What is peptide: Peptides are composed of amino acids. An amino acid is any molecule that contains both amine and carboxyl functional groups. Alpha-amino acids are the building blocks from which peptides are constructed. In basic terms, a peptide is simply a small protein consisting of amino acids linked in a chain. To better understand the nature of peptides, it helps to consider that proteins are made up of one or more polypeptide molecules. The proteins that we obtain through food are split by gastric enzymes into small peptides that have many different functions in the bodily systems. When administered via injection (usually subcutaneously with the equivalent of an insulin syringe) certain peptides are particularly efficacious for joint healing, mitochondrial support, focus, energy, deep sleep and longevity.

How it works: one of the notable properties of peptides is that they regulate the activity of certain molecules, and because of this, they influence body functions in several ways and can act both neurotransmitters and hormones. Each organ and body function has its own unique peptide bioregulator. This means that wehn peptide bioregulators are active, organs can build and tissues can develop easier and faster.

Who needs peptide supplement: Muscle building, recovery, anti aging, sleeping, gut pain, wound healing, decrease senescent cells, mitochondrial support and etc…

Thyroid optimization

What is thyroid: The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ located in the neck below the Adam’s apple. It produces thyroid hormones, which affect the function of just about every organ system ub the human body. Thyroid hormones are responsible for stimulating the foods we eat, extracting vitamins and producing energy from food. They are also vital to the production of other hormones as well as to the growth and development of our nervous system. The thyroid hormones are also called the “thermostat” of your body. Many thyroid symptoms are nonspecific, they are often disregarded by the medical community during the initial stages. Patients are dismissed as having depression, stress or anxiety. Many thyroid patients are prescribed antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications without consideration of thyroid function. Conventional medicine focuses on restoring normal thyroid function through the use of supplemental hormones. Using the Functional Medicine approach, thyroid patients will feel much better because we don’t simply keep adding more thyroid supplements, but also determine and address the root cause whether one should start replacement thyroid hormone and secondarily correlate with the patient’s symptoms.

Undiagnosed thyroid problems can cause a lack of healthy response to hormone replacement. Pollution and stress are wearing down the thyroid. Working with a practitioner who knows about underactive thyroids is very important.

If you are starting on estrogen replacement, you may need to adjust your levels of thyroid replacement and monitor regularly and work with a practitioner who knows how to treat thyroid and Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Symptoms of low thyroid are:

  • Fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Dry skin, pale skin, eczema
  • Diffuse hair loss, dry hair
  • Depression, anxiety
  • Poor memory, poor motivation
  • Body aches
  • Shortness of breath
  • Palpitation
  • Cold all the time, cold hands and feet
  • PMS, heavy, painful periods
  • Water retention

Every pre and menopausal woman should have her thyroid tested with a full thyroid panel (free T3, free T4, reverse T3, thyroid antibodies) not just TSH with free T4 to find the BEST thyroid treatment and treat the root cause.
